Communication
is a process. We can define process as ‘a systematic series of actions
directed to some end’. So, that makes communication a series of actions
which have a definite end. What are these actions? What is the chronology of

There are total 8 parts in a process of communication:
- Sender
- Encoding
- Message
- Medium
- Message
- Decoding
- Receiver
- Feedback
1) sender
Sender is the person, group, machine etc who sends the
message.
Ex. A person speaking to other person, writer of an email
2) encoding
Encoding is the process of formatting message.
Ex. Converting thoughts into words or action, typing or
writing it
3) message
Message is the information or idea sender conveys.
Ex. Content of an email, subject of a conversation
4) medium
Medium is the channel through which message transfers.
Ex. Air in face to face situation, network in email
conversation
5) decoding
Decoding is the process of understanding the message.
Ex. Understanding words or signs of message
6) receiver
Receiver is the person, group, machine etc who receives the
message.
Ex. Person who reads the email, students in a lecture
7) feedback
Feedback is response to the message.
Ex. Nodding to a speaker, acknowledging received message,
responding to it
